Archive on the Human Rights Bill proceedings - by topic
For key to table see bottom of page. These references
are to Hansard, the record of debates. The numbers in the right hand column
refer to the column numbers in the printed edition of Hansard, which are
also shown on the website. There are some points which may help you to use
this section:
- The links in Hansard pages are to the names of speakers. If a speech
covers more than one topic, you may have to scroll down some distance
to find the point where the speaker starts to talk about the subject indicated
in this table.
- In some cases there is a subject heading in Hansard which indicates
what is being discussed, or the text of an amendment to the Bill may be
shown. Because the link is to the first speaker on that subject
or amendment, you may need to scroll up a few lines in order to see the
subject heading.
- The web version of Hansard is divided into seperate sections, each
of which is in a different file. In many cases the debate on a particular
subject will take up several sections. If this is the case you should
click on the "next section" link at the bottom of the Hansard
page to continue reading the debate. Our links are to the start of the
debate on each subject.
These peculiarities are due to the way in which Hansard has been
put on the Parliament site - the DCA has no control over this.
